Applied Learning Programme (ALP)
The AGPS Green Anchor Movement (AGAM)
Growing Green Hearts. Inspiring Green Minds. Creating Green Action.

At Anchor Green Primary School, we believe that every child has the potential to make a positive difference to the environment.
Our Applied Learning Programme, The AGPS Green Anchor Movement (AGAM), nurtures environmentally literate learners who understand today’s sustainability challenges and are empowered to create solutions for tomorrow.
Guided by our belief that sustainability begins with everyday actions, AGAM transforms environmental education into authentic learning experiences. Students apply their Science knowledge and skills to real-world environmental and sustainability challenges as they observe, investigate, experiment and use evidence to develop ideas and solutions. Through these experiences, they see how what they learn in the classroom can be applied meaningfully to the world around them.
AGAM inspires inquiry, fosters innovation and empowers students to take meaningful action for positive impact. Together, we are building a caring school community where every Anchorlite becomes an Anchor of Change.
Vision:
A Caring School for a Green Future
Through AGAM, every Anchorlite grows as an Anchor of Change, guided by Inquiry, Innovation and Impact to care for the environment, act responsibly and contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future.

Mission:
Nurturing Anchorlites to Take Ownership and Lead Sustainability Efforts

AGAM empowers every Anchorlite to:
care for the environment with empathy and responsibility
investigate authentic environmental challenges
innovate practical and sustainable solutions
inspire others through purposeful action
By cultivating ownership and leadership, our students become active contributors who make a positive impact within their school, community and beyond.
Focus:
Three Core Environmental Themes
AGAM focuses on three interconnected sustainability themes aligned with the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Core Environmental Themes

Our Theme Mascots and Action Statements
To make sustainability engaging and memorable, AGAM introduces three theme mascots who will accompany Anchorlites throughout their learning journey.
Together, they inspire students to care for the environment, make informed choices and take meaningful action every day.
Small actions, when practised consistently, create lasting positive impact.

3-Prong Approach

Our Three-Tiers of Anchorlites
The movement is structured into three tiers to ensure that sustainability is both a shared culture for the masses and a peak leadership experience for student leaders.

Tier 1 : All Students (Exposure)
Focus: All Anchorlites.
Goal: To build a baseline of environmental awareness through school-wide programmes where Anchorlites understand, care for and take action for the environment, making green habits a way of life.
Tier 2 : Environment Ambassadors (Application)
Focus: Student leaders dedicated to leading the AGAM.
Goal: These leaders facilitate the trail stations, manage green innovations and drive the 3 'I' cycle (Inquire, Innovate, Impact) within their classes and tier 2 programmes.
Tier 3 : Student Leaders’ EXCO (Impact)
Focus: Selected Environment Ambassadors appointed to the Student Leaders’ EXCO.
Goal: These student leaders drive the “Visionary Horizon” Eco-Hub, mentor junior Environment Ambassadors and represent the school at various platforms, extending their impact beyond the school community.
Outcome:
Our Student Outcomes
Every AGAM learning experience is designed to help our Anchorlites discover their potential as environmental stewards.
By exploring authentic sustainability challenges, students learn to lead with responsibility, embrace challenges with resilience, think critically to solve problems and collaborate respectfully with others.
These lifelong dispositions empower them to make informed decisions and create a positive impact within their school, community and beyond.
AGAM Student Outcomes

Together, these outcomes develop Anchorlites who inquire with curiosity, innovate with purpose and take meaningful action for a greener future.
Our Teacher Outcomes
Teachers are the movers of the AGAM movement, transforming environmental education into authentic learning experiences that inspire every Anchorlite to become an environmental steward.
As Environmental Advocates, they model sustainable practices and cultivate a school-wide culture of sustainability.
As Facilitators, they guide students through inquiry, innovation and authentic problem-solving, empowering them to take meaningful environmental action.
As Partners, they collaborate with families, community organisations and industry experts to enrich learning and strengthen environmental stewardship beyond the classroom.
AGAM Teacher Outcomes

Together, our educators nurture environmentally literate and future-ready learners who lead with responsibility, embrace challenges with resilience, think critically, collaborate respectfully and contribute towards a greener Singapore and a more sustainable world.
Pedagogical Approaches:
Inquiry • Innovation • Impact
Environmental stewardship begins with curiosity and grows through purposeful action.
Our 3I Learning Framework guides every AGAM experience.

Term 1: Singapore World Water Day Commemoration
AGAM began with water conservation, inspiring students to see water as a precious resource. As an official PUB Singapore World Water Day partner, students explored water through hands-on science activities and the interactive Water Wall.
Student-led recess booths brought the message school-wide through games and challenges, turning awareness into action. From the classroom to the canteen, AGPS students learnt that every drop counts.

Term 2: Re-Hub Recycling Drive
Term 2 focused on sustainable consumption and giving back. AGPS was one of 25 schools nationwide selected to launch the RE-Hub recycling bin with CORA. Our “From Sharing to Saving” food donation drive then brought students and the wider school community together.
P3 students and Environmental Ambassadors partnered with Food from the Heart (FFTH) to collect non-perishable food items, showing how small acts of recycling and sharing can create meaningful impact.

Term 3: Clean Plate Programme
Term 3 explored the circular economy, helping students see waste as a resource. Through the Clean Plate Programme, AGPS worked with Food from the Heart (FFTH) to reduce canteen food waste and encourage mindful consumption.
Collected food waste was then channelled into our composting pipeline, transforming waste into nutrient-rich compost for the school garden. Students experienced the cycle firsthand: Plate → Compost → Soil → Plants.

Term 4: Project ECO

Term 4 put student-led innovation in the spotlight. Working with Green Sprouts Singapore and CORA, our Environmental Ambassadors used Design Thinking to create a catchy recycling jingle and dance, making sustainability fun and memorable.
The MILO LOGO initiative further encouraged students to recycle beverage cartons and contributed to a significant boost in recycling rates. When students own the idea, green action becomes meaningful, engaging and impactful.

This year, AGAM took our green action beyond the school gates, strengthening partnerships and connecting students with the wider community.
Sengkang Wetlands
Our Environment Ambassadors (EAs) took on the role of young environmental leaders by creating storybooks and guiding K2 children from Skool4Kidz on learning journeys at Sengkang Wetlands, inspiring younger learners to appreciate and care for our natural environment.

In Partnership with Sengkang Town Council (SKTC)
Our EAs co-developed educational resources for SKTC’s Butterfly Sanctuary and Hydroponics Package, contributing their ideas as young environmental advocates.
Through the partnership, EAs strengthened their knowledge of biodiversity, urban farming and sustainability, while building their confidence and leadership in promoting environmental stewardship.

Community Outreach at AHTC Go Green Carnival
At the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC) Go Green Carnival, our EAs engaged residents through seed-planting workshops and a Pledge Tree initiative, strengthening their confidence in community outreach and leadership. Through the experience, students learnt that environmental stewardship extends beyond the school and is a shared community effort.

Our Impact
AGAM is more than an Applied Learning Programme — it is a movement.
